Dear Parent(s) and Junior High Students:

Confrontation Point will be our main trip this summer July 16-22, 2017 and we would love for you to be a part of this exciting experience. Confrontation Point occursevery other year; therefore students have only oneopportunity to take part in this life transforming trip. Please take some time to look over the details below and I hope you consider signing up for this trip of a lifetime!

What is Confrontation Point?

Confrontation Point is a 5 day adventure, deep in the Kentucky mountain wilderness. Our youth will experience first-hand: Rock Climbing, Worship, Caving, Devotions, Rappelling, Hiking, Swimming, Backpacking, High Ropes Course, and sleeping (with a tarp) under the stars. God will do amazing things as each student is stretched and sees firsthand God’s beautiful creation.

Confrontation Point will be an experience that is not “easy” or “comfortable,” but challenging, difficult, yet achievable. Students will be outside their comfort zones where they have to rely on God and their peers to help them. Students will covenant together to work as a team and develop leadership skills as they work together to overcome challenges and engage in team building exercises.

Students grow as they are placed in leadership roles in daily adventure activities, meal preparation, worship, and devotional times. This is a week to get away from the noise and busyness of life in order to hear, see, experience, and connect with God in His beautiful creation in a way like never before.

When and where will this trip take place?

Trip dates:

July 16 – 22, 2017

Natural Bridge State Park, Kentucky

What should students expect if they go?

Connect with your group:

You will overcome challenges with your group, create memories together, and will get to know each other in new ways.

Grow closer to God:

You will have time for devos when you can focus on connecting with God. Then, keep your eyes open all day because God is there and will show up.

Be a leader:

You will have chances to be a leader. From cooking dinner to reading the map and leading the hike, your actions and decisions will affect the whole group.

Be challenged:

You will be challenged to step outside your comfort zone, and you will be surprised at how this can help you grow in many ways.

We are not going to jump into the woods for a week without preparing. There will be two meetings where we will cover: Backpacking 101, Tarp Tent Making 101, Teambuilding 101, and Covenant Making 101.

Serve others:

You will have plenty of opportunities to use the gifts God has given you to serve others.

Have fun:

At the end of the week, you will probably say, “That was really hard, and that was awesome!”

Who is this trip for?

7th and 8th grade students (from this past school year) are invited and we hope you invite your friends!

This trip is not just for students who love camping and hiking. If that was the case I would never have chosen to go. I’m not an outdoors kind of guy. Holiday Inn is what I consider camping! But for those who choose to go at the end of the week, you will probably say, “That was really hard, but it was awesome!  I’m so glad I went!”  That is what I hear from almost every student that has gone on this trip over the 13 years I’ve been taking students and that’s how I feel as well.

This trip is for students who love camping and students who don’t. It’s for those who love hiking and for those who don’t. It’s for those who love being smelly and stinky and for….well that’s basically every Jr. High student I know. So I guess THIS TRIP IS FOR EVERYONE!
